Bush (CVN 77), launches a T-45C Goshawk aircraft assigned to Training Air Wing (TW) 1, Dec. 18, 2021. Chief of Naval Air Training is conducting a carrier qualification detachment aboard GHWB. The detachment is the first opportunity for student naval aviators from Training Air Wings 1 and 2 to launch from and land on an aircraft carrier at sea, a mission-critical phase in undergraduate strike and E2/C2 pilot training. GHWB provides the national command authority flexible, tailorable war fighting capability through the carrier strike group that maintains maritime stability and security in order to ensure access, deter aggression and defend U.S., allied and partner interests.
