USS JOHN PAUL JONES (DD-932 / DDG-32)

USS Kansas City (AOR-3) underway while replenishing ,USS John Paul Jones (DDG-32) and USS Coral Sea (CVA-43), probably off the coast of California during a training/CarQual period, circa 1971-75.

Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Washington, January 25 1990, laid up at the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility are the guided missile destroyer USS John Paul Jones ( DDG 32 ), the guided missile destroyer USS Decatur (DDG 31) and the destroyer USS Turner Joy (DD 951). In the background at left is the attack aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CVA 31).

Reclassified as Guided Missile Destroyer DDG-32 March 15 1967.
Decommissioned December 15 1982.
Stricken in 1986.
Fate December 18 1982 towed to NISMF Bremerton, arrived December 22 1982. Towed to Mare Island 1984, April 30 1986 stricken & towed to SBRF. Withdrawn from SBRF December 7 2000 to Pt. Mugu, CA for prep as target ship. Towed to target area by T-ATF
