The 1st Corvette Flotilla of the Royal Canadian Navy enters the harbor of Port St. John’s on Newfoundland Island during the Battle of the Atlantic during World War II.

The 1st Corvettes Flotilla of the Royal Canadian Navy consisted of seven corvettes: HMCS Chambly, HMCS Agassiz, HMCS Alberni, HMCS Cobalt, HMCS Collingwood, HMCS Orillia and HMCS Wetaskiwin.

The picture was taken from the bridge of the corvette “Shambly”.
