Russian Navy Commissions Second Project 11711 LST ‘Petr Morgunov’
The Russian Navy (VMF) has commissioned its second Project 11711 landing ship tank (LST - NATO reporting name: Ivan Gren-class) ‘Pyotr Morgunov’ on 23 December 2020. The vessel was built at the Yantar Shipyard (a subsidiary of United Shipbuilding Corporation).

According to the , the new ship is more sophisticated compared to the previous platform of the class, ‘Ivan Gren’.
“The ‘Petr Morgunov’ is set to start the voyage to its home base within the Northern Fleet in early 2021,” noted the admiral.
According to the commander of the ‘Petr Morgunov’ Captain 2nd Rank Vyacheslav Solovyev, the crew of the ship has been fully trained to accomplish its goals.
The Project 11711 large landing ship ‘Petr Morgunov’ was launched in May 2018.
The type ship of the class, ‘Ivan Gren’ was handed over to the Navy in June 2018. Since April 2019, the Yantar Shipyard has been constructing two more ships of the class, ‘Vladimir Andreyev’ and ‘Vasiliy Trushin’.
