The world’s largest LNG bunkering vessel arrived at Europe’s Port of Rotterdam.
The Gas Agility is owned by Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL). It was built at the shipyard of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding near Shanghai and is operated by the French company Total.
With a tank capacity of 18,600 cubic meters and length of 135.5, the ship easily ranks as the world’s largest LNG bunkering vessel, overtaking Nauticor’s 7,500 cbm Kairos which is operated in Hamburg, Germany.
The Gas Agility will primarily operate in Northern Europe where it will supply LNG fuel to commercial vessels, including 300,000 tons per year for a period of ten years to French shipping company CMA CGM for its nine newbuild ultra-large containerships, which commenced delivery this year.
The Port of Rotterdam Authority reported that although the vessel has now arrived at Rotterdam’s anchorage, for the moment it has not yet notified the Harbor Master of an upcoming call.
