Judging from the photos, the construction of Type 075 is progressing on schedule. So it is not likely related to the ongoing Han Kuang exercises.

Recently, a full-scale model for an unknown type of drone helicopter was recently spotted on Type 075 in Shanghai. Regarding this element, we might think that China’s Type 075 amphibious assault ships, will receive drone helicopters that can significantly expand their combat capability by providing strong situational awareness.

Furthermore, this type of vessel can also be used to safeguard territorial integrity and sovereignty in the South China Sea, the expert said.

About China’s Type 075 LHD:

China has already launched two Type 075 amphibious assault ships, one in September 2019 and the other in April 2020. They are undergoing outfitting work at the Shanghai-based Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard.

As for its specifications, the ship will have a displacement of 36,000 tons, a capacity of 30 helicopters, diesel engine with the 9,000 kW 16PC2-6B and four CIWS including two HHQ-10 and two H/PJ-11.

In term of size and tonnage, Type 075 class is estimated to be larger than the Australian Canberra class or French Mistral-class and second only to the U.S. Navy’s Wasp-class and America class on the world stage.
