HMA Ships Stuart, Parramatta and Hobart have arrived in Guam as part of the Royal Australian Navy's (RAN) Maritime East Asia Deployment.
Guam is one of the stops on the Maritime East Asia Deployment, which will also see the two task group elements visit Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Nine ships and over 1,000 personnel are currently on deployment with the two task groups, which will participate in a number of exercises over the next few months including Exercises Nichi Gou Trident, Haedoli Wallaby, Annualex, Pacific Vanguard, Bersama Lima, MASTEX, New Horizon, Multinational Mine Warfare and Hyuga Nada.
They will also take part in the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Fleet Review, a Mine Counter Measure Symposium, South Korean International Maritime Defence Industry Exposition, as well as commemorations to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the Battle of Surigao.
It is the first overseas deployment for the new destroyer HMAS Hobart, which will lead the first task group element, which also features HMA Ships Arunta, Sirius, Leeuwin, Ararat, Gascoyne and Diamantina, as well as two submarines.
