The Nigerian Navy has prevented a hijacking attempt of a general cargo ship 16 nautical miles of the coast of Bonny, Nigeria.

The attack took place on July 13, according to the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre.

Six attackers initially succeeded in boarding the vessel whose crew retreated to the citadel once the alarm was raised. The Nigerian Navy subsequently boarded the vessel finding all crew safe.
