Royal Navy’s amphibious assault ship HMS Albion returned to active service following a June 21 rededication ceremony attended by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.

The ship returned to her duties after spending six years in extended readiness in her home base of Devonport.

Albion started a £90m revamp in 2015 in preparation to return to the fleet. Some 110 major changes and improvements were carried out before the assault ship left Devonport for four weeks of sea trials earlier this month.

During the rededication ceremony, ship’s sponsor Princess Anne was welcomed on board the Plymouth-based warship as the guest of honour.
