The U.S. Navy has awarded Continental Maritime of San Diego a $37.7 million contract for maintenance work on the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Chosin (CG 65).

Under the contract, Continental Maritime will perform a Special Selected Restricted Availability (SSRA) on the cruiser providing depot-level maintenance, alterations and modifications.

USS Chosin completed a homeport change in March this year switching from Pearl Harbor to San Diego in order to undergo the cruiser modernization program during which the ship will get an upgraded combat system along with weapons and sensor systems upgrades.

The ship is one of seven U.S. Navy cruisers that are yet to undergo the upgrade.

The work will take place in San Diego, California, and is expected to be completed by April 2018.
