Chinese Navy to escort transportation of Syria's chemical weapons

According to Liang Yang, spokesman of Chinese Navy, China will provide an escort for maritime transportation of Syria’s chemical weapons. On December 31, the “Yancheng” missile destroyer belonging to the Chinese Navy escort formation has set sail to Mediterranean from Jeddah of Saudi Arabia. In accordance with the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the chemical weapons will be transported out of Syria and destroyed by the chemical weapon destroying ships of the US. China, Russia, Denmark and Norway will provide vessels to escort the transportation of the chemicals.
