Norfolk Ship Repair Scores USS Normandy Contract Modification

BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair, Norfolk, Va., is being awarded a $76,756,663 modification to previously awarded contract for the USS Normandy (CG 60)  extended drydocking selected restricted availability.

An extended drydocking selected restricted availability includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship’s military and technical capabilities. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va., and is expected to be completed by September 2013.

Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Norfolk Ship Support Activity, Norfolk, Va., is the administrative contracting activity.

USS Normandy (CG-60) is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser in the service of the United States Navy. She is armed with naval guns and anti-air, anti-surface, and anti-submarine missiles, thus combat ready for surface-to-air, surface-to-surface and anti-submarine warfare. The cruiser is named after the World War II Battle of Normandy.

Norfolk Ship Repair’s primary customer is the U.S. Navy, followed by  cruise ship owners, tanker owners, ferries and commercial cargo ships.  Norfolk Ship Repair is successfully executing five-year multi-ship, multi option contracts for:

  •      Guided Missile Cruisers (CG)
  •      Guided Missile Destroyers (DDG)
  •      Large Deck Amphibious Ships (LHA/LHD)

The  Ship Repair is a significant teammate on the Aircraft Carrier, Frigate, and Amphibious Ship Midlife contracts.
