Navy Ships Returning To New Zealand

After spending four months working alongside as many as 21 Navies from nations including the United States, Japan, Canada, South Korea and Australia, Royal New Zealand Navy ships HMNZS TE KAHA and HMNZS ENDEAVOUR return to the Devonport Naval Base, Saturday 29 September at 10am.

The ships have distinguished themselves throughout their time away with the tanker ENDEAVOUR conducting 51 refuellings of other navy ships at sea, which is the equivalent to three and a half years of normal activity, and the frigate TE KAHA passing her half-millionth nautical mile in service since her 1997 commissioning.

Saturday’s homecoming will see the crews reunited with their families and friends, who will be led to the wharf by a ceremonial pipe band.

Where: Devonport Navy Base

When: 29 September, Media to arrive at 9:30am for 10am arrival of ships.
