USS YORKTOWN (CV 5). View taken at NAS North Island in June 1940, embarking planes for transport and of her own Air Group, before sailing for Hawaii. Plane types included:Douglas TBD-1, Northrop BT-1, Curtiss SBC-3, Grumman F3F-2 and -3, Sikorsky JRS-1, Grumman J2F and JRF and Vought SB2U. Also seen is a gasoline truck.
