HMT Bedfordshire (FY141) was sunk off the coast of N. Carolina by U-558 in 1942. All hands were lost. Four bodies washed ashore in Ocracoke and locals created a small cemetery for them. The property is now leased in perpetuity to the British government so they're buried on 'home soil'
